Our standard
Guides answer the question first, then give the detail. We write for people caring for plants at home, and we say plainly when a plant is fussy or when a common habit tends to fail. Care figures such as light, temperature and humidity are tied to a named source, not vague advice.
What we cover, and what we don’t
- Foliage, trailing and succulent houseplants grown indoors. Snake plant, pothos, peace lily, monstera, ZZ plant, aloe, jade and similar plants that people keep in homes.
- Flowering houseplants live on How To Grow Flowers. Orchids, Christmas cactus and other plants grown for their blooms are covered on that site; we link there rather than duplicate them.
- Pet toxicity only from ASPCA or an extension source, with a citation. We never write “pet safe” without a source. Where our sources don’t say, the care card reads “Not stated by our sources”. For a pet that has chewed a plant, call your veterinarian or a pet poison helpline.
- No air-purifying or health claims unless a reliable source supports them, which we avoid by default.
Pen name
Articles are published under the editorial pen name Linden Shaw. The name is disclosed on the about page and in the structured data of every page. We do not give it credentials, employers or experience it does not have.
Sources
Claims about light, watering, humidity, temperature, soil and pests come from university extension services, botanical gardens, government and research publications, and ASPCA for pet toxicity. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom.
Images
Photos carry a visible credit. Where no accurate free photo exists we may use an AI-generated image, checked for accuracy before use and listed on our image credits page.
Commercial relationships
Nobody pays to change a recommendation. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored.
Updates and errors
Guides show a last-updated date. If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so: see corrections.
